Spreading the Good
Every week Jennifer would walk into town with her grandmother “Nana”, Bess O’Keefe. Nana would let her pick out a new book each week and then she would read it to Jennifer. As Jennifer got older she realized what a positive impact reading had on her life and that she wanted to share that experience with as many kids as possible. Jennifer named the bus after her Nana who passed away in 1992. Carrying on the tradition
of reading was an important aspect of the bus and in order to make her dream of spreading children’s literacy she cashed out a 401K account, bought a bus and started driving. She currently supports her mission through donations and waitressing. Now that is Good!
Bess the Book Bus is dedicated to reading to children, promoting literacy, and getting books in to the homes of underprivileged children and families.

Recipient of the Good
Because of Jennifer’s giving spirit and her efforts to bring books to children who would otherwise not have access to them Be Good to People awarded Bess the Book Bus with our Recipient of the Good award which is part of our 5% give-back program.
